BIOGRAPHY

Anthony Yoder was born in 1952 and raised in a Mennonite family in a small Iowa farm town. He works as a house painter and lives with his wife (who was raised Amish) and their two daughters. Yoder and his wife have left the more conservative religious sects of their childhoods and now attend a full gospel Christian fellowship. Inspired by personal interpretations of scripture, Yoder began drawing in the early 1970s but soon found the resulting visionary images disturbing not only to friends and family but also to himself, and subsequently stopped. However, he began again in 1990 while temporarily disabled by a back injury. Now, during quiet nights he reads the Bible, meditates on the deeper meanings of individual verses, and then draws the images that spontaneously appear in his mind.
