BIOGRAPHY
Many
unsolved mysteries surround the life of P.M. Wentworth.
His date and place of birth are unknown, but he was
listed in the San Francisco phone book from 1955 to
1959, and is thought to have worked as a nightwatchman
at the San Francisco Navy Yard during this time. Other
evidence suggests he may have died in Santa Monica
about 1960. In the mid-1950s, a man left some forty
mixed-media drawings by Wentworth with the well-known
California psychologist Dr. Tarmo Pasto (who was also
responsible for saving the work of famous Latin American
outsider artist Martin Ramirez). Some of the Wentworth
drawings dated from the 1930s, but most were from
a later date. The inscriptions Wentworth wrote to
accompany his images reveal deep concerns with Christian
theology, the future, and life on other planets.
