BIOGRAPHY
Hans
Schoenleber was born in 1889 in Karlsruhe, Germany,
and died in 1930 in Stuttgart. He was a draftsman
or commercial artist and, at least for a time, also
a mental patient. No other information is available.
In addition to the mass genocide the Nazis committed
against ethnic minorities, during the years leading
up to the Second World War they also murdered hundreds
of thousands of people they considered genetically
imperfect, including mental patients, the elderly,
and people with chronic diseases or birth defects.
Later, in an effort to hide the enormity of these
crimes, hospital records were often destroyed. Frequently,
few or no records remain to provide information about
individuals institutionalized during the Nazi era.
