BIOGRAPHY

Almost nothing is known about Xaver Schelkle except he was a mental patient diagnosed with "dementia praecox" (an obsolete term for schizophrenia) at the Royal Insane Asylum of Eglfing-Haar near Munich, Germany. Records show he was there at least during the year 1916, but they do not mention how long he had already been there, how long he stayed, his age and where he came from, or his eventual fate. At the hospital, his designation was simply "Xaver Sch."
