BIOGRAPHY
Isaac
Irwin Rabinofsky was born in New York City in 1898
to a family of Russian Jewish immigrants. He earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at the University
of Chicago, then pursued a career as an X-ray technician
in San Diego, California. When he retired he took
up art, experimenting with painted dream images rendered
in enamel pigments and fired at high temperatures
onto salvaged street signs in a homemade kiln. Rabinov
died in 1980.
