BIOGRAPHY
Paul
Esparza was born in 1963 and raised in the Midwest,
one of eleven children in a Mexican-American family.
Though developmentally disabled since birth, he is
the only member of his family to have shown any artistic
abilities. He lives at home with his parents and works
as a janitor at a nearby hamburger restaurant. He
has said that his primary wish is for people to have
more fun, now and in the future. Esparza is fascinated
by futurism, transportation, and popular culture.
Many of his paintings are of public transportation
or commercial settings such as bowling alleys, supermarkets,
or RV parks. Esparza abstracts these every- day settings
to his own unique vision, often turning them into
futuristic fantasies.
