BIOGRAPHY
Edmond
Engel was born in 1937 in Angers, France, but has
lived in Switzerland near the shores of Lake Geneva
(Lac Léman) ever since. Deprived of a family
environment after the death of his mother, he began
teaching himself to paint and draw. Between 1961 and
1964 he traveled throughout Europe and the Middle
East. At age 26 he began his career as an artist,
often accompanying his artwork with his own poetry-texts
and commentaries. He married in 1965 and is the father
of two daughters. Since 1987 he has concentrated on
the creation of sculpture made from salvaged materials.
He now lives in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
