BIOGRAPHY
Very
little is known about John Day. He painted at least
one "Dispensational Chart" depicting a fundamentalist
Christian view of history. Such charts are sometimes
used to explain Biblical teachings as a series of
"dispensations" or eras marked by successive
covenants between God and humankind; they also can
be interpreted both as a record of the past and prophecy
of the future as well as a guide to individual decision-making.
Forks in the paths or roads indicate "freewill"
choices that determine the final fates of believers
and are intended to outline the divisions between
the "saved" and the "damned" in
order to encourage righteous behavior.
